Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of jottie, a notes application operated by jottie ("we", "us", "our"). By using jottie, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Your Account
Registration
You must sign in with a valid Google account to use jottie. By signing in, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction).
Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and any activity that occurs under your jottie account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
One Account Per Person
Each person may maintain one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent limits or abuse the service is prohibited.
2. Using jottie
License to Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use jottie for your personal, non-commercial note-taking purposes, subject to these Terms.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use jottie for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any laws
- Upload content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or infringing
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to jottie's systems or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the service
- Circumvent rate limits or usage restrictions
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- Use the service to develop a competing product
- Resell or redistribute the service without our permission
AI Features
jottie includes AI-powered features such as semantic search, automatic tagging, and chat. You agree not to:
- Attempt to manipulate or abuse AI features to generate harmful content
- Use AI chat to circumvent content policies or safety measures
- Rely on AI-generated content for critical decisions without human verification
3. Your Content
Ownership
You own all content you create in jottie, including notes, attachments, and chat conversations. We do not claim ownership of your content.
License to Us
You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide and improve the service. This includes:
- Storing and syncing your notes across devices
- Processing notes to generate embeddings and metadata for search
- Retrieving and displaying relevant notes during chat sessions
- Creating backups for disaster recovery
Content Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the content you create. We do not monitor or review content except as needed to operate the service, respond to legal requests, or enforce these Terms.
4. Subscriptions and Payment
Free and Pro Plans
jottie offers a free tier with limited features and a Pro subscription with enhanced features. Current pricing and feature details are available on our pricing page.
Subscription Options
jottie Pro is available as an auto-renewable subscription with the following options:
- Monthly subscription: Billed monthly at the current price displayed at time of purchase
- Yearly subscription: Billed annually at the current price displayed at time of purchase
Billing
- Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance
- On iOS, payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
- On web, payment is processed by Stripe; we do not store your credit card details
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the subscription price
- Prices may change with notice; changes apply at the next renewal
Managing Your Subscription
- You may manage and cancel your subscription at any time
- On iOS, manage subscriptions in your device Settings under your Apple ID, or through the App Store
- On web, manage subscriptions in the jottie Settings page
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
- Upon cancellation, you retain access to Pro features until the period ends, then revert to the free tier
Refunds
- For iOS purchases, refund requests are handled by Apple. You may request a refund through Apple Support or reportaproblem.apple.com
- For web purchases, we generally do not provide refunds for partial periods, but may make exceptions
5. Service Availability
Uptime
We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
Modifications
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of jottie at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for significant changes that affect your use of the service.
Data Portability
If we discontinue jottie, we will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data.
6. Intellectual Property
Our Property
jottie, including its design, code, features, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited license to use the service.
Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about jottie, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use them without obligation to you.
7. Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using jottie, you agree to our Privacy Policy.
8. Termination
By You
You may stop using jottie at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, use the account deletion feature in Settings or contact us.
By Us
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or for any other reason with notice. In cases of severe violations, we may terminate without notice.
Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use jottie ends. We may delete your data according to our data retention practices unless you request deletion sooner.
9. Disclaimers
JOTTIE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We disclaim all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that jottie will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. AI-generated content may contain errors; you are responsible for verifying accuracy.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF JOTTIE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF JOTTIE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms, your content, or your use of jottie.
12. Dispute Resolution
Informal Resolution
Before filing a formal dispute, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the issue informally for at least 30 days.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Jurisdiction
Any disputes not resolved informally will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
13. General Terms
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding jottie.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.
Assignment
You may not assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in jottie or sending an email. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
