jottie is a note-taking app that turns quick thoughts into a searchable, conversational knowledge base. it uses ai to automatically organize your notes with tags, entities, and dates, and lets you search semantically or chat with your notes to find what you need.

sign in with your google account to get started. we use google oauth for authentication, which means you don't need to create a separate password. your google account security protects your jottie access.

jottie works great in your mobile browser. we also have an ios app available for a native experience on iphone and ipad. your notes sync automatically across all your devices.

jottie requires an internet connection. unlike local-first apps like obsidian, jottie is cloud-based so your notes sync instantly across devices and ai features like semantic search and chat work in real time. the tradeoff is that you need to be online to access your notes. a fully local version of jottie is technically possible but would require substantial local compute for embeddings and inference. this may be something we build in the future as model capabilities and consumer hardware continue to improve.

semantic search finds notes by meaning, not just keywords. type what you remember - like "the note about the project deadline" - and jottie finds relevant notes even if they don't contain those exact words. it understands the intent behind your search.

when you save a note, jottie's ai automatically extracts relevant information: topics become tags, people and places become entities, and temporal references become dates. this happens in the background so you can keep writing without interruption.

chat lets you ask questions about your notes and get answers grounded in your own content. ask for summaries, find connections between notes, or get context on past topics. the ai retrieves relevant notes and uses them to answer your questions with references.

boards are kanban-style workspaces for organizing notes into columns. create boards for projects, workflows, or any grouping that makes sense. you can rename boards and columns, drag notes between columns, and recover deleted boards from settings for up to 365 days.

jottie skips folders by design. instead of forcing notes into a single hierarchy, tags, entities, and semantic search let you slice your notes any way you think about them. a note can belong to multiple contexts without duplication.

yes, pro users get 30 minutes of voice notes per month with automatic transcription. record a thought, and jottie transcribes it into a searchable note. the audio is saved alongside the transcript so you can listen back anytime.

yes, jottie has a free tier that includes 15 notes, 1 board, and 5 chat messages per month. you get full access to semantic search, automatic tagging, and all core features. upgrade to pro when you need more.

yes, you can cancel your subscription anytime from settings. you'll keep pro access until the end of your billing period. your notes remain accessible on the free tier, though you won't be able to create new notes if you're over the free limit.

yes. your notes, chat messages, and associations are encrypted at rest using aes-256-gcm, the same encryption standard used by banks and governments. each user has a unique encryption key protected by google cloud key management service.

no. your data is never used to train ai models. we process your notes on-demand to provide features like semantic search and chat, but your content stays private and is not shared for model training.

no, never. we do not sell your data. we share data only with trusted service providers who help us operate jottie (google cloud for infrastructure, stripe for payments). see our privacy policy for details.

your notes are encrypted with per-user keys managed by google cloud kms. while we have technical access to the decryption process for running the service, we enforce strict access controls and only access data when absolutely necessary for support or debugging.

go to settings and select "delete account". this permanently deletes all your data including notes, boards, chat history, and associated metadata. this action cannot be undone.

yes. you can access all your notes in the app, and you can request a copy of your data by contacting support@jottie.io. we support your right to data portability.

deleted notes are soft-deleted first, giving you a recovery window. after the retention period, they are permanently purged from our systems. deleted boards can be recovered from settings for up to 365 days.

yes. your notes sync automatically across all devices where you're signed in. changes save immediately to our servers, so you can switch between desktop and mobile seamlessly.

tags are generated in the background after you save a note. it usually takes a few seconds, but during busy periods it might take longer. refresh the page if tags don't appear after a minute. pro users get faster processing.

you've reached the free tier limit of 15 notes. upgrade to pro for unlimited notes, or delete some existing notes to make room. you can see your usage in the header.

if chat is slow or unresponsive, check if you've hit your monthly message limit (5 for free, 1,000 for pro). if you have messages remaining, try refreshing the page. if the issue persists, contact support@jottie.io.
